500 Flags, Small Batch Weekend and Food Trucks Galore!

TOGETHER WITH

Lawn Doctor of Fort Collins

Good morning, Fort Collins. As you make your way to Horsetooth Res with the boat or South Dakota to see Mount Rushmore, take a moment to reflect on the many sacrifices that have been made to put you here, in the greatest city on earth 🇺🇸

In today’s ChoiceCity Dish:

  • Green pants and a thick mustache

  • Events for Memorial Day Weekend

  • School closures and consolidations

Let’s get to it.

A Tale of Two Lawns

There once were two neighbors who lived on Prospect Street, west of Taft Hill Road. Both had similar landscaping, with large, shabby yards full of dry patches, thistle and dandelions.

The first neighbor decided it was time to clean the place up. He spent hours pulling weeds and dragging a hose around to the brown patches, yet nothing seemed to help. The weeds came back and the ugly patches seemed to only intensify. The next year he tried again. This time he was convinced he had a fungal issue, so he treated his lawn, pulled the weeds and drug the hose around to all of the ugly spots. And again, nothing changed. By year three he finally figured it out, blaming his ratty lawn on insects and grubs. He bombed the yard with insecticide, pulled the weeds and drug the hose to all of the problem areas, which by then had only spread to other areas.

The second neighbor had never owned a lawn before and had only recently moved to northern Colorado. She too decided it was time to clean the place up. Rather than experimenting, she called in a lawn expert with more than forty years of experience treating issues just like her’s. She was thrilled to find out that the cost of an annual treatment plan was much cheaper than she could have ever guessed. The customer service was beyond her expectation and she had the peace-of-mind with a 100% satisfaction guarantee. By mid-summer on the first year, her lawn was noticeably fuller. The weeds were gone and the brown patches too. She was then able to use her free time to watch the neighbor across the street pulling his weeds, dragging his hose while losing his mind.

Mike Verde circa 1983

It all started with a van, a dream for a better lawn, green pants and a thick mustache. Mike Verde started the Lawn Doctor of Fort Collins in 1983 with his wife Laurie. They have proudly served our community, from Wellington to Eaton, Severance/Windsor to Fort Collins. Mike is proud of the work his team does and more so of the way they treat their customers. They truly are Lawn Service Experts.

When Mike isn’t focusing on tree, shrub and lawn healthcare, he enjoys playing soccer, hiking and traveling. His three kids are all Fort Collins High School graduates, and his wife Laurie works as a Nurse Practitioner in town.

Mike enjoys spending time in Old Town, and you might catch him at Jax Fish House & Oyster Bar or the Crown Pub.

Although the mustache and green pants have been done away with sometime in the last forty plus years, his commitment to serving this community has only grown stronger.

So next time you need a hand with your trees, shrubs and lawn, reach out to the experts at the Lawn Doctor of Fort Collins.
