Under Konstruction
INSPIRED BY
Good morning, Fort Collins. We have turned the corner and it appears that summer is finally, almost here.

Who’s the new brewery in town
Now, let’s get to it.
Konstruct Brewing
Sara, Emily and Kendra were riding their bikes south of town one Friday afternoon, trying to figure out which happy hour to hit for a refresher. It was hot and they were thirsty, but couldn’t seem to all agree. And as luck would have it, crossing the intersection at Ziegler and Harmony, Kendra’s bike chain went slack.
They walked their bikes to the southwest corner of the intersection wondering just how they were going to repair a bike without tools. Voilà. Right there on the side of Konstruct Brewing was the solution they were looking for - a brand new, bike Fix-It station.
After repairing Kendra’s bike and parking it in the bike rack with the others, they went in to the brewery to say thanks and see how the remodel turned out, knowing the building had once belonged to Envy. What they found were 9 beers, freshly brewed in-house, wine and spirits, and a food menu to tie it all together.
Finally, something all three of them could agree on.
We got the chance to speak with Brian Lackey, co-founder of Konstruct Brewing, and Kreative brains behind the operation. Although his initial plan was to open in late May, after dealing with some pesky setbacks, like obtaining the necessary licenses needed to offer a few wines and a few cocktails to go along with their craft beer selection, things are finally on track and he is now aiming to open in early June. All he has left to do now is finish hiring the most important pieces to his staff, the Beer Tenders, and finalize a food menu.
And although Brian is the creative artist behind the brand, it was his business savvy brother and co-owner, Jack Lackey, who gets credit for naming their new venture. Konstruct Brewing, a place designed to Inspire Curiosity. Built from the community, a wild dream brewed up in the garage after a one-off conversation with the neighbor in 2011, and batch after batch of home-brewed excellence.
When Brian isn’t sippin’ a session, you might find him restoring old trucks, mountain biking, practicing photography, or woodworking in his shop. He’s a family man. His wife works as a kindergarten teacher in town (they met in Jr. High and graduated from FoCo High). They have two sons, a recent CSU Grad and an emergency vehicle fabricator.
Most importantly, Brian is the type of guy you’d like to sit down with and have a beer, which if we aren’t mistaken, is kind of the whole point.

Some of the pictures were so ridiculous, we had to share them again.

Roomies
We’ve all been there before, right? Maybe you’re just starting out while trying to save a buck. You sign a lease with a few close friends and everything appears to be going fine until you realize you’re the only one who ever takes the trash out, while your new roommates seem content living like animals. So what do you do in retaliation? If you can’t beat them, join them. Now no one takes the trash out and you get to watch the 32 gallon trash can rapidly overfill until no amount of compacting can keep the trash off the floor (totally not speaking from personal experience). Fort Collins’ rental community is in a stir with the recent news that U Plus 2 will no longer be enforced. For those unaware, U Plus 2 was a law that a person could only have two people living with them who were unrelated. So dust out that office, throw up a makeshift door and slam another mattress in there for your buddy Rhett - cheaper rent for everyone, right . . . not so fast! The occupancy law signed by Governor Polis will not go into effect until July 1, 2024. Check out the full story here.
🚲🔧 Speaking of bike Fix-It stations, the city will be freely providing you with a tuneup and safety check this Saturday, May 18. 10 AM - 3 PM at the Walk and Wheel Skills Hub at Ross Natural Area (Drake and Dunbar). They fixed 65 bikes last year . . . let’s pump those numbers up.
RAMS
Woman’s Track and Field won their second consecutive Mountain West Conference Outdoor title over the weekend. The ladies finished 13 points ahead of the second place finisher, San Diego State.
If you’ve ever sprinted two entire laps around a track before, you’ll understand how amazing it was that Quinn McConnell ran a 2:04.51 to win the 800 and set a PR.
Sarah Carter won the 5k with a time of 16:00.8 while Michaela Hawkins won gold in the discus.
